Is it open or closed? That’s the question being asked of Landy Lodge Bar and Grill on Third Avenue Southeast in Hutchinson.
So what’s the answer? Well, it’s complicated.
“A lot of things are up in the air,” said owner Heather Landreville. “I don’t know the answer to that question right now. It is not operating right now. … Is it permanent? I’m not sure. We have several buyers interested. I’m trying to sell it.”
Employees were notified of the closing Feb. 6 and a sign stating the business was closed for repairs due to a burst pipe was displayed on the front door. Two former employees of the restaurant said that may not have been the case.
“I went to the restaurant that day to pick up my last check and didn’t notice anything,” said Delaney Mikolichek, a former cook.
Landreville declined to comment regarding the sign.
Landy Lodge first opened in 2015 when Heather and her ex-husband, Mark Landreville, purchased and renovated the former American Legion building. Heather later became the sole owner of the business in December 2017. At this point the restaurant’s future is “in limbo.”
“I don’t know if it’s closed permanently. I don’t know if it’s closed temporarily,” Heather said. “I don’t know that answer. We’re working on that answer.”
“We expect the bar and restaurant to be up and running again very soon,” she added. “We have several interested parties.”
