The McLeod County Board, with four of five members attending, approved the following items at its Aug. 6 meeting:
NURSE SERVICES: Approved contracts with New Century Academy and New Discoveries Montessori Academy to provide school nurse services from McLeod County Public Health at a rate of $40 per hour for the 2019-20 school year. NDMA will receive four hours each week and NCA will receive five.
ARMORED VEHICLE TRAINING: Approved travel for two sheriff’s deputies to attend a three-day class in Grafton, North Dakota, for armored vehicle operations at a cost of $897. Money is from the Sheriff’s Office budget. The course includes armored vehicle training, safety and crew survivability, a flat driving range, an off-road range, drills and rescue training.
BEER FESTIVAL: Approved an application for the 2019 Winsted Craft Beer Festival from Tom Ollig. The event benefits the Adult Training and Habilitation Centers in Hutchinson and Winsted, which work with 140 disabled adults to help them find employment and improvements to their daily lives.
CLEAN WATER LOANS: Approved a resolution to borrow $1.4 million from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to lend to eligible participants to fund control and abatement of water pollution through the upgrade of failing septic systems. The program provides low-interest loans to homeowners.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Approved an industrial waste disposal agreement with Spruce Ridge Resource Management Facility to dispose recycling residue at a cost of $10,000 with funds from the Solid Waste Fund.
BUILDING SALE: Approved the sale of land including a building used as a highway shop to the Economic Development Authority of Lester Prairie at a price of $66,400.
