No one hurt in truck fire

Hutchinson firefighters used water Monday to extinguish an engine fire that engulfed a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck owned by Tyler Berge. The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. along Main Street South in front of Zellas. Flames leaped about 10 feet into the air but did no damage to the Zellas outdoor awning. Berge ran into nearby Urban Hair Studio and grabbed a fire extinguisher but was unable to douse the flames on his own. No one was hurt in the incident, which was watched by a crowd that had assembled at Library Square for Music in the Park. Traffic along Main Street was detoured for about 45 minutes while firefighters were on the scene. The fire is under investigation. For a video of the incident, visit hutchinsonleader.com.
