Man shot rushed to hospital by ambulance

An Allina Ambulance rushed a man shot by a Hutchinson officer on Oct. 25 at Fairlane Apartments to the hospital. He is still recovering at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The man shot in the abdomen by a Hutchinson officer outside a High Street apartment building the morning of Oct. 25 continues to recover at Hennepin County Medical Center.

In a press release made available Wednesday afternoon, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said it continues to investigate the officer-involved shooting. The incident took place about 8:30 a.m. when an officer, now identified as Sgt. Eric Kilian, a 15-year veteran of the force, responded to a 9-1-1 call of a suspicious person inside the entryway of the Fairlane Apartments building, 455 High St. N.

The man, whose name still has not been released, was taken by Allina Health ambulance to Hutchinson Health and then to Hennepin County Medical Center where he continues to receive treatment for a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. BCA agents have been working with this individual in an effort to obtain a statement about the incident.

Kilian, who was not injured, returned to work Tuesday following a standard administrative leave.

BCA agents are conducting this ongoing and active investigation with assistance from the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office and at the request of Hutchinson Police Services. When complete, the BCA will present its findings to the McLeod County Attorney Mike Junge’s office for review.
