Hutchinson Police Services reported the following incidents:
SEPT. 22: At 9:31 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at Masonic/West River Park and made a warrant arrest. While reporting to the disturbance, officers made contact with Amanda Jean Burandt, 34, of Hutchinson, and another man from Hutchinson. Police determined the disturbance to be a verbal argument, and no assault occurred. Burandt had three active warrants out of McLeod County, so she was arrested and take to McLeod County Jail.
SEPT. 24: At 8:46 a.m., police responded to a report of property damage at Cedar Park. A Hutchinson Parks worker reported damage to the fishing dock involving purple spray paint. The cost to remove the pain was estimated at $250. There were no suspects.
SEPT. 26: At 12:08 p.m., police responded to a crash at the intersection of School Road Southwest and Lewis Avenue Southwest. A 2001 Volvo S60 driven by Randy Ivan Lund, 62, of Hutchinson, was westbound on Lewis Avenue and attempting to turn left to head southbound on School Road when it collided with a 2014 Ram 1500 driven by Keagen Ken Petersen, 22, of Hutchinson, that was southbound on School Road and turning eastbound on Lewis Avenue. The Ram had the right of way. There were no injuries and minor damage to the vehicles. Lund was cited for failure to yield.
SEPT. 29: At 8:59 a.m., police responded to a crash at the intersection of State Highway 15 South and South Grade Road Southwest. A 2014 Chevy Equinox LS driven by Amanda Renee Hansen, 35, of Hutchinson, was northbound on Highway 15 and attempted to turn left to drive southbound on South Grade Road on a flashing yellow arrow signal. The Equinox collided with a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by Jonathan William Edwards, 43, of Hutchinson, who was southbound on Highway 15 and had a steady green light signal. Both vehicles had moderate functional damage and Hansen was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
At 2:20 p.m., police responded to another crash at the intersection of State Highway 15 South and South Grade Road Southwest. A 2014 GMC Acadia driven by Albert Louis Holker, 35, of Dassel, was stopped in the southbound lane on Highway 15 when it was rear-ended by a 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by Eric Matthew Martinson, 19, of Howard Lake. Martinson said his vehicle was stopped and that his foot slipped off the brake pedal and hit the accelerator by accident, causing his vehicle to drive forward. Both vehicles had moderate functional damage and Martinson was cited for duty to drive with due care.
At 6:40 p.m., police responded to a crash at School Road Southwest and Roberts Road Southwest. A 2021 GMC Sierra driven by Mark Kevin Jergens, 65, of Hutchinson was westbound on Roberts Road and making a left turn to go southbound on School Road. A 2011 Chevy CRZ driven by Alex Michael Eiden, 18, of Litchfield, as stopped at the intersection, but proceeded northbound and the vehicles collided. Both vehicles had moderate functional damage, there were no injuries, and Eiden was cited for failure to yield.
Police responded to a report of theft at Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot. An employee reported an uncovered manhole, and an officer was unable to find the missing manhole cover, which is believed to be stolen. There were no suspects.
SEPT. 30: At 11:59 a.m., police responded to a crash at the intersection of State Highway 15 and Freemont Avenue Southeast. A 2000 Yamaha XVS1100 motorcycle driven by Brandon Lee Knake, 31, of Hutchinson, was southbound on State Highway 15 when an unidentified white pickup driven by an unidentified person was westbound on Freemont Avenue and took a left turn to go southbound on Highway 15. The two vehicles nearly collided, but Knake swerved to avoid a collision. Knake had injuries that were not life threatening, and the driver of the other vehicle left the scene. The investigation is ongoing, pending further suspect information.
OCT. 1: At 9:29 p.m., police assisted Renville County in a search for a Hutchinson person on the 200 block of Freemont Avenue Southeast. Anthony Quentence Booker, 47, was wanted for alleged threats of violence and tampering with a witness regarding an incident that happened in Fairfax. Officers found Booker on the 200 block of Freemont Avenue, he was taken into custody and taken to Renville County.
OCT. 3: At 12:03 a.m., police responded to a crash on the 700 block of Main Street North. A 2012 Mazda 6 driven by Beth Anne Kost, 65, of Plymouth, was northbound on Main Street when is struck a parked and empty 2015 GMC Yukon. The Mazda had severe disabling damage and the GMC had moderate functional damage. Hutchinson Fire Department was called for fluid clean-up and Kost was cited for duty to drive with due care
OCT. 4: At 12:50 p.m., police responded to a report of theft on the 900 block of State Highway 15 South. A 2004 5-by-8 single axle ALUMA utility trailer with an attached drop-down rear ramp valued at $500 was stolen. There were no suspects.
At 4:15 p.m., police took a report of theft near Bluff Street Northeast and North High Drive Northeast. As police were actively patrolling the area, they saw a man walking on the side of the road headed northbound, with traffic having to go into the opposing lane to safely go around the man. And officer contacted the man to ensure his safety, and the man reported his blue mountain bike valued at $100 had been stolen. There were no suspects.
At 7:30 p.m., police responded to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash at the intersection of Dale Street Southwest and Roberts Road Southwest. A 2005 Ford Five Hundred driven by Mary Lynne Cox, 74, of Hutchinson, was northbound on Dale Street and turned left to go westbound on Roberts Road. Sharon Marie Klugow, 54, of Hutchinson, was northbound on Dale Street, crossing Roberts Road in a motorized wheelchair when it collided with the Ford. The Ford had minor damage, the wheelchair had moderate disabling damage, and Klugow had minor injuries. Cox was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
