The Hutchinson Huskies offense was clicking Wednesday, as it aided a 13-0 road victory against the Howard Lake Orphans.

The Huskies scored two runs in the first and another in the second for a 3-0 lead. They posted two more runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a home run from Matthew Piechowski, for a 9-0 lead.

Hutch delivered the dagger with four more runs in the seventh inning to end the game with a 13-0 win. Jeremiah Van De Steeg and Kyle Messner combined to throw a shutout.

Hutchinson is a game out of first place in the North Star League, trailing only Delano.

The Huskies were next due to play on Friday, when they were scheduled to host Brookings. That game was canceled due to lack of players for the Cubs, however. Hutch next plays at 6 p.m. Sunday on the road against Maple Lake.

With the cancellation, Hutch will play seven consecutive road games.
