The 23rd Annual Pioneer Christmas at the Forest City Stockade was last Saturday.
Located about six miles from Litchfield, the Forest City Stockade shows what life was like in 1862. The Pioneer Christmas is one of two events the Forest City Stockade hosts each year. During the summer, the stockade hosts the Summer Rendezvous the third weekend of August. At the winter stockade event, people can try traditional frybread, buffalo stew cooked on an open flame, homemade ice cream or walk the grounds.
The Pioneer Christmas featured pioneer crafts, a visit with Santa, Christmas carolers and horse-drawn sleigh rides. The stockade also gave demonstrations of blacksmithing, candle making, spinning and weaving, and more.
