Voters in three of five Meeker County commissioner districts will be casting their ballots for new representation this year.
The Independent Review sent questions to the four candidates in the two contested races — Julie Bredeson and Greg Gilbertson in District 2, and Paul M. Johnson and John L. Smith in District 3.
Danny Schiefelbein is running unopposed for the open seat in District 4.
The three races this year are assured of providing a major overhaul of the Meeker County Board, with three of five commissioners being new to the board when they are sworn in prior to the first meeting in January. This change was created when incumbents Bryan Larson (District 3) and Mike Housman (District 4) chose not to run for reelection, and incumbent Joe Tacheny (District 2) finished third in the primary in which Bredeson and Gilbertson advanced to the General Election.
Early voting and vote-by-mail already have begun for Meeker County voters, and Election Day in Nov. 3.
