The Meeker County Family Services building, in the heart of our community and for many nears Litchfield’s junior-senior high school, will get a new roof this fall.

The building, now owned by the county, has in recent years provided office space for many county entities, including social services.

The County Board, at its Sept. 2 meeting, let the contract for the work to Granite City Roofing of St. Cloud. The contract calls for a total expenditure to Granite City and the separate purchase of materials of $427,666, with $301,690 going to the St Cloud firm.

Work is expected to be done in 20 days and will be completed this fall.

The St.Cloud firm’s bid on the project was the lowest among five. The McDowell firm, also St Cloud based, had the second low bid of $475,193.

The work will not include auditorium roofing, as this portion of the building is under city jurisdiction.

In another action, the County Board approved a contract between the county and Bishop AIS Service to provide inspection services on fishing boats at lakes Stella and Washington for no more than 113 hours at the rate of $19 per hour Saturdays and Sundays until Oct 20.

Meeker County’s MCT dividends for 2019 were reported at $175,128.
