The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato girls hockey season got underway Thursday, and the Dragons offense came ready to play and got out to an early lead. But host Prairie Centre used two third period goals to take the opening night victory, 3-1.

L/DC’s Lauren Block used a pass from Alyssa Olson to score a goal at 8:23 in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.

The Blue Devils tied the contest with a power-play goal in the second period, and the score remained tied until late in the third period.

Prairie Centre scored two goals in less than two minutes late in the third period put away the victory, giving L/DC its first loss of the year.

The Dragons offense controlled much of the puck possession, out shooting the Blue Devils 54-28.

L/DC goalie Avery Stilwell had 25 saves on 28 shots.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato (0-1-0) next plays Friday at Luverne.
