Luella Hahn, 97, of Hutchinson, formerly of Stewart, passed away Wednesday, May 15, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Funeral service was Saturday, May 18, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, with the Rev. Mahlon Bekedam officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Erin Keith, Brett Klabunde, Clint Kalenberg, Korey Klammer, Ryan Zeman and Shannon Kottke.

Luella Elsie Selma (Beich) Hahn was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Round Grove Township, McLeod County, to William and Martha (Tabbert) Beich. She was baptized Nov. 6, 1921, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart and confirmed in her faith there April 14, 1935. Luella grew up in Stewart and received her education at Stewart Public School.

On Jan. 12, 1941, Luella was united in marriage to Kermit Hahn at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. They made their home in Stewart and were blessed with seven children. Luella and Kermit shared 52 years of marriage when Kermit passed away Jan. 9, 1993. Eventually, Luella moved into Prince of Peace apartments in Hutchinson before moving into Harmony River Living Center in 2013.

Luella enjoyed several jobs, among them operating a bowling alley and Dairy Queen in Stewart with Kermit. She also worked as a cook at Stewart Public School and at Fingerhut Corporation in Gaylord for 30 years. After retirement, Luella and Kermit catered special events with their special friends.

Luella was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart and served as a Sunday School teacher for 20 years.

Luella enjoyed having fun. Playing cards, camping, cooking, sewing and fishing were among her favorite pastimes. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Luella is survived by her children, Marjorie Klabunde and husband Merlin of Hutchinson, Allen Hahn of Hutchinson, Jean Klammer and husband Warren of Stewart, Jane Kalenberg and husband Wayne of Winnebago, Gary Hahn and wife Bonnie of Dassel and Mary Zeman and husband Richard of Northfield; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother Wilfred Beich of Texas; sisters-in-law, Edna Hahn of Hutchinson and Delores Beich of Hutchinson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kermit; daughter June Donley; son-in-law George Donley; brother Rueben Beich; sister Agnes Martin and her husband Art; sister-in-law Ruth Beich; brothers-in-law, Quentin Hahn and his wife Marvel and Granville Hahn.
