Margaret Louise Fenton, daughter of Royden and Marion (Hughes) Maxon, was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Elkhart, Indiana. She grew up in Elkhart and graduated from McMurry High School in 1944. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she studied Art.
On June 12, 1948, she was united in marriage to Richard Fenton in Elkhart. They were blessed with three children, Charles, Deborah and Susan. The family lived in Litchfield from 1948 to 1957 and then moved to the Phoenix area for nine years. They returned to Litchfield in 1966. Maggie loved being a homemaker and spending her time with her family, both at home and at Big Sand Lake in Park Rapids. She was passionate about her gardens and spent many hours in her yard. Maggie’s artistic talents shined through in all she did. Her family will treasure the paintings she has left behind. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, Dick. They enjoyed many travels to Mexico, Alaska, Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe.
Another great passion of hers was following sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. She was also a great lover of animals, especially dogs, and fondly retold stories of past family pets and she was diligent about making sure the birds were always fed. Maggie cherished her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and followed their lives through pictures and Facebook. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and later First Lutheran Church, both of Litchfield. Maggie was a member of the Litchfield Chapter BD of PEO.
She is survived by her children, Chuck (Sue) Fenton of Litchfield, Sue Fenton and Mike Keplinger of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren, Richard (Kendra) Romo of Incline Village, Nevada, Jessica (Joe) McManus of Oceanside, California, Joshua (Lindsay) Fenton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Catherin (Chris) Nordquist of Apple Valley; great-grandchildren, Ryker and Ronan Romo, Shea and Nolan McManus, Ryan, Luke and Drew Fenton and Grace and Charlie Nordquist; brother-in-law James Wenzel; and many nieces and nephews.
