Marvin L. Wendroth, 92, of Hutchinson, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Officiating was Pastor Michael Jones. Organist was Barb Eno. Soloist was Sharon Lang — “Precious Memories.” Reader was granddaughter Jessica Larson. Congregational hymns were “I Come to the Garden Alone” and “Blessed Assurance.” Honorary urn bearers were Jessica Larson, Michelle Peterson, John Ackland, Jeff Fillbrandt and Brian Erickson. Urn bearers were Scott Ackland and David Fillbrandt.

Marvin Lawrence Wendroth was born March 8, 1926, in Litchfield. He was the son of Fred and Annie (Neuman) Wendroth. Marvin was baptized in his faith. He received his education in Litchfield and was a graduate of the Litchfield High School Class of 1944.

In 1949, Marvin married Virginia Guishard. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Jean and Shirlee. On Aug. 30, 1967, he was united in marriage to Sonja Jensen. They made their home in Hutchinson and shared 35 years of marriage until Sonja passed away on Dec. 26, 2002.

Marvin was employed as a woodworker at Harris Pine in Hutchinson. He then spent 25 years as a school bus driver for Hutchinson schools. He also drove truck for Kokesch Trucking in Hutchinson. Marvin was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hutchinson.

In his younger years, Marvin enjoyed taking his boat to Lake Marion and Lake Washington to water ski. There were always people willing to go along. He also loved riding his red Honda scooter with a group of friends. He even rode it to Chanhassen to a grandson’s wedding at age 86. He also enjoyed remodeling equipment and gardening. Marvin especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

When Marvin needed assistance with his daily care, he moved to Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. He passed away there on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at the age of 92 years. It was 35 years to the day that his father passed away.

Marvin is survived by his daughters, Jean Ackland and her husband, Paul, of Hutchinson, Shirlee Jacobson and her husband, Lee, of Bloomington; stepchildren, Kenneth Binder and his wife, Diane, of California, Paula Johnson of Hutchinson, Rhonda Binder of Hutchinson, Everett Binder of Oregon; grandchildren, Scott and his significant other, Ann Anderson, of Glenwood, Jessica Larson and her husband, Dean, of Minnetrista, Michelle Peterson and her husband, Aaron, of Minneapolis, John Ackland and his wife, Martene, of Minnetonka, Jeff Fillbrandt and his significant other, Erin McGinn, of Minneapolis, David Fillbrandt and his wife, Bobbie, of Crestview, Florida, Brian Erickson and his wife, Lexy, of Lakeville; great-grandchildren, Michael Ackland, Harley Peterson, Maddox Peterson, Katelyn Harbarth, Traci Ackland, Easton Erickson, Landon Erickson and Audrey Fillbrandt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Sonja Wendroth; parents Fred and Annie Wendroth; stepson Phillip Binder; and step-grandson Beau Johnson.
