Terry Chatfield, 71, of Hutchinson passed away Thursday, May 30, at his home. A public celebration of life will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at 448 California St. Lot 14, Hutchinson. Service will be at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Oather Martin of VFW Post 906 officiating. Military honors will be by Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad. Taps will be performed by his granddaughter Emily Chatfield.
Terry was born Jan. 8, 1948, in Hutchinson, son of George and Luella Chatfield. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the Methodist church in Stewart.
Terry was a graduate of Stewart High School Class of 1966. After graduation, he worked for Stark Bros Construction until going into the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He spent two years at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois and two years in Fuchu Air Force Base in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He returned, working for Stark Bros Construction, Bolling Mo Construction and Reinert Woodworking.
Terry married Lynnda Chatfield April 7, 1973, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with one son, Brandon.
Terry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976 and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After serving four years, he was honorably discharged in 1980.
He moved to Monticello in 1975 and worked for Wright Co. Products. He moved back to Stewart in 1983 and worked at Iowa Pork in Buffalo Lake and South St. Paul, until becoming disabled in 1987.
He moved to Hutchinson in 2013. Terry enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos and fishing. He enjoyed camping and going on trips.
Terry is survived by his wife Lynnda of Hutchinson; son Brandon and wife Carla; three grandchildren, Laura, Emily and Zachary; sister, Bonnie Berg and husband Jim; and many other relatives, nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents George and Luella; and brother Kenny Chatfield.
